R. Kelly was granted a hearing to be released on bail for his sex crimes case in Cook County, Illinois.
Judge Harry D. Leinenweber approved R.Kelly’s motion for reconsideration to be released on bail according to AllHipHop. His lawyer Steven Greenberg filed the motion for him.
“Mr. Kelly never missed a single court date, from 2002 to 2008, on his previous case. The court did not consider that Mr. Kelly appeared for each and every day of his trial and was present when the jury’s verdict was read. The court never considered that Mr. Kelly has been aware of these federal investigations and yet did not abscond,” said Greenberg.
If Kelly is granted bail, his lawyer proposed that the judge puts him on house arrest. Additionally, Greenberg promised that his client would have no contact with minors and would minimize his use of the internet and social media. R. Kelly faces the judge on March 5th.
R. Kelly is also facing separate charges in New York and Minnesota for sex crimes.
